“Vidunimsara 2014” is the seminar series conducted on November 15 & 16, 2014 at the Main Lecture Theater of the Uva Wellassa University, for the students of Uva Province who are preparing for the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination to be held in December, 2014. This program is organized and conducted annually by the Students of Science and Technology Degree Program of Uva Wellassa University under the guidance and patronage of Dr. K.B. Wijesekara, Head, Department of Science and Technology. Also, it is carried out with the intention of uplifting the educational status of Uva Province. The main focusing areas of the seminar are Science and Mathematics subjects. These subjects are considered to be the most difficult at the G.C.E. (O/L) examination and registered the highest failure rate in Uva Province in the past. Model exam papers prepared according to the G.C.E. (O/L) curriculum and approved by the Provincial Department of Education were discussed in this two days workshop. Seminars were conducted by a panel of competent students of the Science and Technology Degree Program. The opening ceremony was presided by Dr. Gamani Chandrasena, Vice Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University. “Vidunimsara 2014” was attended by more that 350 participants representing 18 schools in Uva Province. The program was sponsored by Brainstorm Computers (Pvt.) Ltd., E-soft (Pvt.) Ltd., and the Department of Education of Uva Province. This exemplary social responsibility activity was commended by all participants and the event also demonstrated the unity, organizing power and the commitment of the undergraduate of Uva Wellassa University.
