The Profood Propack & Agbiz Exhibition, the most anticipated one of the premier annual event in Sri Lanka provides a unique platform for individuals and organizations within the processed food, packaging and agriculture sectors to convene, interact and forge connections all under one roof. This exhibition is organized as an annual event organized by the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association (SLFPA) and Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services Ltd. (LECS) at the BMICH Exhibition Centre, Colombo. It receives from key entities including the Ministry of Industries, the National Agribusiness Council, and the Institute of Food Science and Technology Sri Lanka.
In a harmonious integration of academic excellence and commitment to innovation, the Department of Food Science and Technology had the privilege of enabling students from the Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture at the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka to partake in the 20th Profood Propack & Agbiz Exhibition, which unfolded from 4th – 6th August, 2023.
Despite being debutants at this event, the students of UWU noticeably secured extraordinary accomplishments within the winners’ circle, notably excelling in the institutions category.

- Best Innovation that Promotes Food Safety: Microencapsulated fruit powder to improve shelf life oils and fats
- Most innovative process: Freeze-Dried watermelon Powder incorporated instant drink mix and jelly powder
