“The Fish Talk: වසංගත අභියෝග හමුවේ විසිතුරු මත්ස්‍ය කර්මාන්තය” Webinar

“The Fish Talk” the online zoom conference regarding the ornamental fish industry amidst the pandemic situation, has been conducted successfully with the participation of over 200+ interested individuals. Department of Animal Science organize the event with the collaboration of Aqua Club of Aquatic Resources Technology degree program. Major objective of the event was to provide a platform to discuss the matters, raise the suggestions and plan the future for Sri Lankan ornamental fish industry after the pandemic situation. Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekara, Vice Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University and Prof. Saman Herath, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture participated as the special guests for the event and shared their thoughts regarding the interest of this kind of event. As resource persons Mr. Nimal Chandrarathne, Director General of NAQDA (National Aquaculture Development Authority), Dr. Palitha Kithsiri, Deputy Director General of NARA (The National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency) and Mr. Randika Fernando, Vice President of Sri Lankan Ornamental Fish Exporters Society have been participated to the event. Except for the resource persons selected advisory panel was participated in different disciplines to further extend the scope of this event. Advisory panel including Mr. Ravindra Deshapriya (Senior Lecturer, Uva Wellassa University), Mr. Jagath Kulathilake (Lecturer, Uva Wellassa University) and Ms. Kumuduni Mudalige (Deputy Director, Sri Lanka Export Development Board). Valuable ideas were shared throughout the session which will be important for the further development of the industry.
