Sri Lanka Forum of University Economists (SLFUE) which was established in February, 2012 with the intention of enabling closer cooperation, dialogue, research and academic enhancement among the professionals in Economics serving in the Sri Lankan Public Universities currently possesses the membership of 33 Departments and Units that teach economics in the Sri Lankan University system. All the departments in Faculty of Management and Department of Export Agriculture of Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture took the pride in getting membership in the SLFUE several years ago and hosted 3 forum meetings in Uva Wellassa University (UWU).

Moreover, 33rd meeting of SLFUE was held at UWU premises with the blessings of Faculty of Management and Department of Export Agriculture on 7th February 2020. At this meeting Uva Wellassa University was elected as the Chair of the Forum for the year 2020 and Dr. Thusitha Kumara, Faculty of Management, was Elected as the Chairman to the SLFUE for 2020. A research workshop on ‘’Philosophy behind Statistical Hypothesis Testing’’ and a Panel Discussion on ‘’Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact of Sri Lanka’’ were held along with the 33rd meeting. An eminent scholar and well known political economist, Professor Sumanasiri Liyange, moderated the panel discussion while Dr. Priyanga Dunusinghe, a Senior Lecturer attached Department of Economics, University of Colombo made an informative presentation on MCC prior to panel discussion. Mr. Gevindu Kumarathunga, Ms. Sarasali Fonseka and Mr. Mayura Gunawansa participated as the discussants.
