Senior Lecturer M. Rubavathanan was awarded The State Literary Awards රාජ්ය සාහිත්ය සම්මාන அரச இலக்கிய விருது – 2024, in the category of Best Original Drama Script – for his drama book “Vinthu Thaninthathu – வெந்து தணிந்தது” published in the year 2023. Also, he received the Award plaque, Certificate of Excellence, and a Cash prize at the State Literary Awards Presentation Ceremony -2024 held at the Temple Trees, Colombo on 27.11.2024 under the patronage of the President of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the presence of Hon. Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senavi, the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.

State Literary Awards are presented to literary works written in three languages, Sinhala, English and Tamil in different categories by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Cultural Affairs with the collaboration of the State Advisory Council of Literature and Arts Council of Sri Lanka annually since 1957.
