Second Annual 3MT Competition 2022

Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture, Uva Wellassa University held the second consecutive 3MT Competition for its final year undergraduates on October 31, 2022 at the Auditorium of Faculty of Technological Studies. It was organized with the aim of showcasing undergraduate research findings of the 2016/2017 batch of all five-degree programmes of the faculty.
Among the applicants, the top 10 students were selected for the Grand Finale of the 3MT Competition 2022. Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, Vice Chancellor, Uva Wellassa attended the event as the Chief Guest. Prof. Saman K. Herath, Dean, Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture, Mr. G.H. Abeyweera, Dean, Faculty of Management, Prof. Kolitha B. Wijesekara, Dean, Faculty of Technological Studies, Prof. Jagath Pitawala, Dean Faculty of Applied Sciences, Mr. Hibathul Careem, Registrar, Ms. K.T.J. Perera, Bursar, Heads of Departments representing the faculties and, the academic staff members and final year undergraduates of the Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture witnessed the event.
Dr. Dhananjali Gamage, Dr. Devanmini Halwathura and Ms. Gayani Dias extended their service as the Panel of Judges with their own 3MT Competition experience both locally and internationally. The ‘Winner’ of the 3MT Competition 2022 was selected based on the evaluation made by the Panel of Judges while the ‘People’s Choice Award’ was selected by the votes casted by the audience.
Ms. C.K. Welhena was selected as the ‘Winner of the 3MT Competition 2022’ for her study on ‘Degree of satisfaction of supply chain stakeholders on the transformation of conventional tea auction into an E-auction’ whereas Ms. S.D.N. Kaushalya was chosen for the ‘People’s Choice Award of the 3MT Competition 2022’ for her study on ‘Gluten-free biscuit using Jackfruit seed flour’.
Prior to the final event, an Introductory Webinar of the 3MT Competition 2022 was held on September 02, 2022 and Dr. Shashika D. Rathnayake, Dr. T.S.R. Fernando, Dr. K.N. Wijayasekara and Ms. W.M.J.C.M. Thissera served as the resource persons. In addition, a successful training on “Presentation Skills Development and 3MT Slide Preparation” was conducted by Mr. Arun Dias Bandaranayake, a well renowned media presenter, on September 17, 2022 at the university premises. The final training sessions for the contestants were held on October 23 and 30, 2022. 3MT Competition 2022 was organized by the team including Dr. D.P.N. De Silva, Coordinator of the 3MT Competition 2022, Dr. T.S.R. Fernando, Dr. K.N. Wijayasekara, Mr. R.G.D.R. Jayawickrama, Mr. D.B.O. Malaweera, Mr. P.C.B. Dias, Ms. A.M.G.N. Rathnayake, Ms. S. Mathumai, Ms. T.A.N.T. Perera, Ms. M.P. Charithangi and Ms. G.R.V.S. Gamlath.
