The Animal Science Society of Uva Wellassa University organized “Saarkshara 2017” as one of their cooperate social responsibility (CSR) activities for the 3rd consecutive year on 21st November 2017 at Malangamuwa Vidyadeepa Primary School in Badulla. The 3rd year undergraduates of Animal Science degree programme together with their staff members visited the school and donated kids with a package of stationaries, school items and sport instruments.
Malangamuwa Vidyadeepa Primary School is located in a remote area in Badulla district, and has only around 61 students who follow their studies with under-privileged facilities. The parents are mostly farmers and laborers who fight for their daily food earnings. The main objective behind “Saarkshara 2017” was to support a needy school and its students through supplying materials for their education and to motivate them to study well and move up the ladder of success. The success of this event was evident in the display of innocent smiles on the faces of the students at Malangamuwa Vidyadeepa Primary School during the event.
