Academic Research and Publication Unit (APU) is the apex body of the Academic Research & Publications of Uva Wellassa University (UWU). At present, APU administers and coordinates the activities of the UWU Research Committee, UWU Research Ethics Review Committee, UWU International Research Conference, UWU Research Journals, UWU Research Funds, and the UWU Annual Report.

UWU Research Committee is the decision-making and coordinating body of the research activities of the University. The committee implements the UWU Strategic Plan on Research by
- Providing strategic research directions to the University through the development of effective Research Policies;
- Coordinating all research activities in the University;
- Allocating and administering research funds in accordance with the criteria adopted by the committee;
- Spearheading resource mobilization initiatives to ensure that the Research Policy mandate are met;
- Providing mechanisms of monitoring research;
- Fostering the development of Faculty research programmes linked to postgraduate studies;
- Ensuring the preparation and production of research agenda and reports and research Handbooks, and
- Ensuring compliance by researchers to research ethics.
