The Faculty of Management of Uva Wellassa University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Certified Management Accountants Institution (CMA) on November 06, 2015 at CMA premises, Colombo 4. The main purpose of signing this agreement between two institutions is to provide exemptions for existing Entrepreneurship and Management curriculum offered by the Department of Management Sciences, Faculty of Management. Accordingly, after successful completion of BBM in Entrepreneurship and Management, the graduates of Uva Wellassa University will be exempted in many of the subjects at CMA. The exemptions have been however defined for the undergraduates depending on their undergraduate level.
The BBM in Entrepreneurship and Management offered by the Faculty of Management of Uva Wellassa University has been designed to produce highly knowledgeable and capable graduates to the field of management. The degree was initiated with the inception of Uva Wellassa University in year 2006. Besides, the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka is also a world recognized institution. The mission of the institute is training and developing innovative and capable Management Accounting Professionals. By signing such an MoU, the collaboration between these highly recognized institutions will be more spirited while giving an assurance to produce highly knowledgeable, socially responsible, and capable graduates who will create a value in the world of work.
The initiation for the agreement was taken in the year 2014 according to a suggestion made by Dr. P.I.N. Fernando, Dean, Faculty of Management with the cooperation of Management Accreditation Steering Committee of the Faculty. The committee is composed by Dr. P.I.N. Fernando, Dean, Faculty of Management and certain Lecturers such as Mr. K.M.M.C.B. Kulathunga, Ms. W.M.P.G.C. Weerakoon and Ms. Y.M.C. Gunaratne. Importantly, these academicians made the curriculum mapping for this MoU.
