“Future Dreams 2016” Science Exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Education was held on 08th and 09th of November 2016, at Hali-Ela Central College. The Department of Science and Technology (SCT), at Uva Wellassa University presented a very informative and attractive stall for this exhibition. A few robotic items, some tricks using chemical reactions, a simple wine fermenter from water melon, interesting specimens to show aquatic diversity, waste management methods by turning the waste into useful products and some fascinating rocks and minerals were some of the interesting highlights presented by the students and demonstrators of this department. A big gathering mostly students visited this stall to witness the exhibits and they were quite happy to see such interesting exhibits and activities which most of them saw for the first time in their lives. Some of them asked several interesting questions to clarify their views about the exhibits and they gained a substantial knowledge which would be useful immensely for their future development.
A special tribute should be paid to Dr. Pamoda Ratnaweera who was instrumental in organizing this event, and others including Dr. Kolitha Wijesekara, Head of the Department (SCT), Senior lecturers who coordinated students/demonstrators to present exhibits and other lecturers who supported in many ways to conduct this exhibition so well. Beside them special thanks should go to the AQT degree program staff for providing some specimens of aquatic organisms for making this exhibition so fruitful.
