Inter degree program Quiz competition on Ethnic Cohesion was held on November 26, 2014 at 5.00 p.m. at the Main Lecturer Theater of the University. The main focus of this quiz competition was to promote ethnic harmony amongst the University students. Quiz competition was organized in four rounds in which teams from all eleven Degree Programs participated. Teams representing each of the Degree Programs were selected by an open screening test where over 250 students participated voluntarily. The final competition was held between the teams representing Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management Degree program and the team from Palm & Latex Technology and Value Addition Degree program. Questions of the competition were based on the cultural, religious ethnic diversity of Sri Lanka and it was nice to see that students of all the ethnicities were actively taking part in the competition. The team Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management became the winners of the 2014 competition while team Palm & Latex Technology and Value Addition were runners-up. This Event was organized by Dr. Kolitha Wijesekara, Coordinator for Ethnic Cohesion of Uva Wellassa University and financial assistance was provided by Higher Education for Twenty First Century (HETC) University Development Grant. The final competition was held with the participation of Dr. Gamani Chandrasena, Vice Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University, Deans of Faculties and a large number of Staff and students.
