Capacity Building Programme

A “Capacity Building Programme” for Advanced Level teachers from Bio System Technology stream in Uva Province was held on December 08 and 09, 2014 at Uva Provincial Education Development Center, Hali-Ela, Badulla. The programme was organized by Uva Provincial Department of Education. Academic staff members attached to the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture served as the resource personnel in this two-day workshop. The programme was conducted with the guidance and coordination of Dr. Gamani Chandrasena, Vice Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University and Dr. Sepalika Jayamanne, Dean, Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture. The main objective of this programme was to uplift the knowledge of Advanced Level teachers on the newly introduced subject area; Bio System Technology and to provide them a forum to discuss the common problems related. Dr. Dinesh D. Jayasena, Dr. Sandun Abeyrathne, Dr. Kavindra Wijesundera, Mr. Nuwan Liyanage, Ms. Malshani Samaraweera, Mrs. Manori Bambaranda, Mrs. Gayani Rajapaksha and Mrs. Indika Wickramarathne conducted lectures covering the areas Animal Product Technology, Aquatic Resources Technology and Water Purification. The event was accompanied by teachers from 25 schools and it was highly commended by all participants.
