The Seventh General Convocation of UWU is planned to be held at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Colombo, on Sunday the 6th day of August 2017 at 2.00 pm onwards to acknowledge students’ success before moving on to the next phase of their career. The Chancellor of the Uva Wellassa University, Thripitakacharya Dharma Keerthi Sri Sumangala Rathanapala Dhammarakkhitha, Most Venerable, Bengamuwe Sri Dhammadinna Nayake Thero, Chief Incumbent of Sripada Temple, Chief Incumbent Rathnapura Pothgul Rajamaha Viharaya and Pelmadulu Rajamaha Viharaya as well as Chief Sanganayaka of Rathnapura Maha Disawa confers the Bachelor’s Degrees on 411 graduands. Besides, the best performer in every degree programme is rewarded with the Vice Chancellor’s award for outstanding performance by the present Vice Chancellor, Dr.J.L.Ratnasekera. Furthermore, Prof.S.B.S Abayakoon former Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya will make the Convocation Address.
In this 7th Convocation, the Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture confer 127 Bachelor’s degrees on graduands under five unique degree programmes. Furthermore, 190 graduands walk away with Bachelor’s degree from the faculty of Science and Technology under four exceptional degree programmes. The Faculty of Management bestows 94 Bachelor’s degrees at this convocation under two outstanding degree programmes.
